To sail with Cunard is like taking a step back in time to the golden age of luxury ocean liners. Make a sweeping entrance all dressed up in your finery. Linger over cocktails in the bar before sitting down to one of Cunard's culinary rituals - from a simple spa lunch on deck or cream cakes and Darjeeling at tea time, to casual meals in the Lido, or the tantalizing gourmet fare in one of the formal restaurants.
Main Dining Room Policies: Cunard guests dine in different dining rooms according to their cabin types.
Guests staying in most cabins are assigned to one of two seatings in the main dining room for their evening meal, early or late. The early and late seating times can vary by ship or itinerary, but are usually at around 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., respectively. Dinner seating preferences may be requested at the time of booking, but are not guaranteed.
Guests staying in suite cabins may dine in their assigned dining room any time between 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
Dress Code: Most nights will be Smart Attire. Gentlemen may wear smart trousers with a collared shirt (jacket and tie are optional). Ladies, blouses and skirts or stylish trousers and dresses are welcome. On Gala nights, it's dinner jacket, tuxedo, or dark suit for the men with a regular tie or bow tie. Evening or cocktail dress, smart trouser suit, or formal separates for the ladies please. You can also wear formal national dress and military uniform.
Please note that after 6:00pm, shorts and blue or worn denim (for men and women) and sandals and sleeveless tops (for men) are not considered appropriate within the ship.
Beverage Policy: All beverages except tea and water are at an additional cost. Juice and coffee is included with breakfast.
Special Requests: All ships can cater for the following diets: vegetarian, pescetarian fish, low/no fat, low salt/no salt, lactose intolerant/dairy free, gluten/wheat free/celiac, low cholesterol, diabetic, kosher (dinner only), and vegan. Speak with your My Cruise Fare agent at least 6 months prior to sailing to make arrangements.
All dining rooms onboard Cunard ships are smoke-free.
Cunard has several fun programs for kids that are fully staffed.
The Night Nursery provides a safe place for infants to sleep. The location is staffed with professionals in the child care field. On all ships, the hours are 6pm to 11pm. Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria accept children 12 months to 23 months, while Queen Mary 2 accepts children as young as 6 months. This service is offered free of charge and on a first come, first serve basis. You will be given a pager should the staff need to contact you.
Available on all three ships, The Play Zone is an area that is permanently supervised by qualified early years staff. Children between 3 years and 7 years are welcome in The Play Zone without parental supervision, while children 6 months to 2 years are welcome with parental supervision. Activities include toys, computer games, arts and crafts, books and puzzles.
The Kids’ Zone is an area for 8 to 17 year olds. There are plenty of activities in The Kids’ Zone, including sports competitions, arts and crafts, gaming consoles and more. This area is available on all ships.
Queen Mary 2 also has an area exclusively for teens 13 through 17 years. The Teen Zone has activities like deck sports, discos, quizzes, gaming consoles and more.
The groups for children aged 13 through 17 overlap on Queen Mary 2, so the exact groupings will depend on the number of children traveling on that particular cruise.
Clubs are open on a daily basis and feature secure entry systems to allow authorized entry. A registration form must be completed for every child before they attend a club. There are sign in and sign out procedures for children who are 2 through 12 years. It is highly recommended for guardians to attend one of the initial registration sessions on embarkation day so the child can be registered from the first session.
Smoking is not permitted in staterooms, on stateroom balconies, or in public rooms. You will find designated areas of the open deck on each ship where smoking is permitted; these will be clearly signposted on board and listed in the Daily Programme. The only exception to this is Churchill's Cigar Lounge, which is reserved for cigar and pipe smokers. Electronic cigarettes may be used in staterooms and on stateroom balconies; however, they are not permitted in non-smoking public areas. Electronic cigarettes that do emit a vapor should be used in designated smoking areas only.
